A Message from our President

I am honored to be your 2024-2025 ISCHR President and I want to acknowledge the wonderful leadership provided by Cindy Hooper and last years' ISCHR board. I am excited to welcome some new members to our ISCHR Board of Directors as well as several returning members who will continue to drive ISCHR towards our goals.  

We had lots to be excited about in Illinois!  

  • We have a record number of ISCHR members with our current membership at 175 members! This marks the highest membership totals in ISCHR history!  

  • ISCHR sent 6 board members to represent IL for AACVPR's Advocacy Day on the Hill, March 4-5th 2024. ISCHR members held 17 meetings in D.C.  With IL representatives.    

  • ISCHR hosted 130+ attendees at our 2024 Annual Conference at Elmhurst Hospital March 15-16th.  

  • ISCHR created a new "Emerging Professionals" committee to better connect Academic and Professional practice. The Emerging Professionals Committee is Co-Chaired by two Exercise Science Program directors and will help bridge the gap between students and clinical practitioners.   

  • ISCHR also held the first ever "Connecting with the Future" networking event at our annual conference; where attendees posted resumes, job opportunities and internship sites.  

  • ISCHR also offered our first ever University vendor sponsorship at our annual event and had 3 University programs represented.  

  • ISCHR added a BOGO Student Conference Registration – By one get one free- feature for students to attend our annual conference and the response was positive with 20 students registered 2024 ISCHR Conference.  

  • ISCHR leadership has created a new 3-year strategic plan, available on our website. Our plan focuses on Program Quality and Viability, Education, Marketing and communication, and membership  

  • ISCHR has also moved to a new website platform Higher logic. www.ischr.org  offers many new features including a member center and members only discussion board. Feel free to use the message board to ask all your ISCHR colleagues questions!  

  • We will be sending several ISCHR board members to AACVPR – Affiliate Leadership Forum in June 2024 to learn how to better serve our members.  

  • ISCHR also plans to host a Leadership Retreat in Fall/Winter 2024 to continue the work of our strategic plan and develop future leaders within ISCHR.
